2005 Upper Deck Hall of Fame baseball Silver

In hopes that I don't want the Rollie Blog to get booted from the Sportscard Blogroll and in the event that I find time to start posting regularly again I give you my arbitary 6 month post.  

This time featuring Rollies 2005 Upper Deck Hall of Fame Silver Parallel card.  

1992 Treat Autograph with binder.

Been real slow here at the Rollie Fingers Collector.  Rollie has had a few new cards issued for him.  But the majority of those have been autographs or really low numbered relics from some higher end sets.  So I've been focusing elsewhere in my collecting.  But I picked this gem up a while back.  Treat ProAutographs put out a bunch of different retired and current players using different cards.  I'm not sure what they retailed for.  Rollie's card is a 1992 Upper Deck Heroes of Baseball #H7.  To make this even more interesting Upper Deck also put out an autographed version of this card hand numbered to 3000.

I guess this will mark the bi-annual Rollie post. I've really let this blog go.  It doesn't help that I have been focusing any of my collecting time, energy, or money on my Rollie collection.  Factor in that the collection has been stored away as we try and sell our home and the lack of office space to scan and to even write post and well something has got to give and that is unfortunately this blog.

Anywho  I do have a few cards cued up and so I figure I should post something to prove this blog isn't dead and won't get booted of the blogrolls.

We have featured here one of the many many sets and paralle sets Upper Deck produced in 2005.  There are tons of parallels to chase for this insert that include some autograph versions.  I like the overall look of the read bordered cards and it being serial numbered to just 99 doesn't hurt either.

I would normally never bother with a damaged card, but the seller was very clear that the card was damaged and that this was also a 1 of 1, so....  for a $1.99 delivered I added this super rare and badly damaged card to my collection.  I should have asked what happened.  Dog attack, tape accident?  Who knows?  But the seller was right it is a 1 of 1 and to a Rollie Fingers collector the price was more than right.

Wow I don't think I've picked up any new Rollies in a while now and I haven't seen a single new card produced yet this year.  So I'll dip into the stack.  I think I picked this card up cheap a few Black Fridays ago off of COMC. Besides this insert, Rollie has a base card a couple more inserts and a few relics and autos in the set.  The scan doesn't really show it, but the card is foil board and very shiny. The photo is terrible, terribly cropped, terribly blurry, and terribly sized.  Can you tell I'm not a fan of the set?  I do love a lot of what Upper Deck has produced over the years, but this set, not so much.

Still a Rollie card is a Rollie card.

2003 Upper Deck Classic Portraits

Upper Deck put out some crazy concepts back in the early 2000.  The Classic Portraits boxes came with a collectible player bust.  Rollie's card here belongs with the Baseball Royalty subset. It was made up of the last 42 cards in the set all serial numbered to 1200, and is kind of a shadowbox type card.  

It's a  neat card, but I'm not overly excited about the black and white photo used.

2005 Upper Deck Reflections

Ah Upper Deck Reflections.  So colorful, so many parallels.  

Not a whole lot to say about the card. Pretty simple front and back. Upper Deck probably didn't want to waste all that space with facts and figures.

2000 Upper Deck Legends Legendary Signatures Autograph card.

It's looking like another dismal year for new Rollie cards, but that just means we can focus on picking up great cards of yore.  Just in is this great 2000 Upper Deck Legends Legendary Signatures autograph card.

The one thing I really don't like about this card is the fact that Rollie is featured wearing an Upper Deck hat. What's up with that?  Looking at a few of the other cards in this set all that I could find have the inset picture with the player with a team hat.  

It's still a great looking card and the auto is on card which is always awesome.  Having such a nice big space for him to sign you get a great looking signature.  Add to that that this card was less than a ten dollar bill delivered and it's another great addition to the collection

2004 Upper Deck Ultimate Collection

Back in the mid 2000's Upper Deck set the bar pretty high with it's high end offerings. Between Sweet Spot and Ultimate, Upper Deck really had the corner covered when it came to higher end baseball cards. But since Upper Deck lost most of it's major licenses it's become a side note, unless your a big hockey fan or enjoy seeing your favorite stars in college uniforms.  

What I like best about this card is that Upper Deck gave Rollie card number 34, his number. However they feature him in a A's uniform, but all the information and stats are from his time with the Brewers.  That's something Topps would do. Actually Topps would feature Rollie in a A's jersey and list him as an A and then put a gigantic piece of a Brewers or Padres uniform on the card.

Still a nice card here though. And even though low serial numbered cards are the norm now, it's nice the base card is limited to just 675 copies. 

2003 Upper Deck Sweet Spot Classic

I still love picking up base cards of my favorite players. Even if they are issued well after the player has retired. The early 2000's was littered with issues that featured retired players and Hall of Famers. Donurss Classic, Topps Retired, and of course Sweet Spot Classic. I think the nice part about these sets is that they have a place. Sweet Spot at the time was one of the premium issues. And of course the big draw was the autos and relics in the set, but Upper Deck was always good at putting out a nice base card and 2003 Sweet Spot Classic is no different. A great picture of a young pre-mustache Rollie with nice gold foil accents. Boxes of this still go for over $100 and  this is before Sweet Spot morphed into the one pack per box super premium issue.

2006 Upper Deck SP Legendary Cuts When It Was a Game Silver insert

Sometimes I miss Upper Deck, sometimes.  Here we have a 2006 SP Legendary Cuts When it Was a Game insert.  Lots of foil, serial numbered and a blurry, black and white photo.  I like the design, I really like what the card represents, I'm just sad that Upper Deck couldn't find a better photo to use on the card.

This card also has a gold parallel and relic version, as well as, the 4 printing plates.
