2012 Gypsy Queen Rollie Rainbow

I've been meaning to post the newest rainbow for a while.  To be honest I was waiting for the last card I needed, which was the plain old base card.

Of course there are the full size parallels and the mini parallels.

There are three base minis back variations.

Base back.
Gypsy Queen back.
And the Straight Cut back.
And there are three more mini parallels in the rainbow as well.
First we have the Green.  The greens were kind of odd. In hobby packs there were harder to hit than the sepia numbered mini's, but in retail they had a much higher insertion rate.

The black parallel.
I think I like the black parallel backs the best.
And the last of the mini parallels the numbered sepias.

The full size cards had 3 parallels not counting printing plates.
First is the Bronze or Golden framed parallel cards.  These were found in retail rack packs in a three pack bonus pack. The backs are the same as the base card and they are unnumbered.

Next we have the blue framed cards. Found in hobby pack and serial numbered to 599.

And of course this year we have the insanely rare black bordered parallel cards.

It looks very similar to the blue, especially when scanned.
I was lucky enought to snag this bad boy for way less than I was willing to pay and of course after I let the Red 1/1 Tribute card slip through my grasp I wasn't going to let this one.

A new Rollie I'm green with envy!!!

This year is turning out to be a great year for a Rollie Fingers player collector.  Rollie has a base card in Gypsy Queen and of course also has all the subsequent parallels, including the two framed color parallels.
Well I got my first mini parallel to start the mini rainbow.  These green minis, I've also seen them called the pukes, actually have harder odds than the numbered sepia minis.  Greens have 1:24 odds while the sepia tones have 1:20.

Welcome to the collection.

2012 Topps Tribute the start of a new Rollie Rainbow!

Well I've so far managed to grab 6 of the 9 cards I'd need for this years Topps Tribute Rollie Rainbow.  Like always the 1/1 is a pain in the ass.  This year though there are 3 really low numbered cards with gold being numbered to 25 and Red numbered to 5, besides the purple 1/1.

I missed last years rainbow by being outbid on the Red 1/1, but that's how the chase goes sometimes.
Lets have a closer look at the 6.

First up we have the unnumbered base.
I think maybe one day I'll attempt to put a base set together of one of theses products like Tribute or Museum.  The base cards just seem to get overlooked, but when your paying 50 or dollars a pack, that's understandable.

Next up in the lineup of parallels is the Bronze or Copper numbered to 299.  Remember when we use to get excited about cards numbered to 10,000!

The blue numbered to 199. Personally my favorite of the colors.
Here we have my newest one I just got in the mail to complete this portion of the rainbow.  Green numbered to 75.  I find it interesting that Topps decided to have three color parallels with numbering so close.  You jump from 199 to 75, but then 60 and 50.

Here is that 60.

And another favorite color variation of mine the orange. Numbered to 50.

Still waiting on any more reds to pop up.  I've already seen 2 of the 5 up on ebay, only a couple golds numbered to 25 and the purple 1/1 hasn't shown up yet.  You never know when or even if it will.  Some one might pull it and want to keep it.  But I'm fairly satisfied with the rainbow so far.  If I can snag a gold and maybe even a red I'd be happy to call it done.  I have seen one printing plate, but with a BIN of 125 way too pricey for me.

I've also started working on the 2012 Topps Museum Rollie Rainbow.  So well see how that comes along.

2012 Rollie's

I haven't actually gotten one of these yet, but I just noticed that Mr. Fingers has a base card in Tribute again this year.

Might have to try for my rainbow again this year!!

2005 Playoff Absolute Memorabilia Rollie Fingers Spectrum Gold #d to 25

Every now and then as I'm wading through the thousands of listing on Ebay for players or teams I collect,  I come across one or two cards that just stand out.  The weird thing is I don't even have this base card, so now I have to go look for the other parallels in this set.

A new Rollie

Finally got this nice Topps Update Commemorative Patch card.  These are the bonus cards you get in retail blasters.  When these first started hitting they were going into double digits.  I finally managed to snag one for .99 cents.

Welcome welcome.

Holy Crap that's a nice Rollie!! and others.

Wow I just picked up an unbelievable card the other day and it finally arrived. I've been trying to get one since I saw the first one come up for auction and I've missed two so far.  So when this one came up I snagged it and got a great deal, as it went for much less than the earlier two cards.

Sometimes Topps gets it oh so right.  Other than the fact that this is obviously from a Padres jersey and Rollie is pictured in a Brewers Uniform.  And numbered to 5!! This one is going to be going up on my Top 100 over at Collector's Crack.

I also picked up some low numbered Topps Triple Threads Unity Relics for super cheap too.
Some real nice additions to the collection.
