Every now and then as I'm wading through the thousands of listing on Ebay for players or teams I collect, I come across one or two cards that just stand out. The weird thing is I don't even have this base card, so now I have to go look for the other parallels in this set.

Finally got this nice Topps Update Commemorative Patch card. These are the bonus cards you get in retail blasters. When these first started hitting they were going into double digits. I finally managed to snag one for .99 cents.

Wow I just picked up an unbelievable card the other day and it finally arrived. I've been trying to get one since I saw the first one come up for auction and I've missed two so far. So when this one came up I snagged it and got a great deal, as it went for much less than the earlier two cards.

Sometimes Topps gets it oh so right. Other than the fact that this is obviously from a Padres jersey and Rollie is pictured in a Brewers Uniform. And numbered to 5!! This one is going to be going up on my Top 100 over at Collector's Crack.

I also picked up some low numbered Topps Triple Threads Unity Relics for super cheap too.

Some real nice additions to the collection.

While it's been incredibly slow on the Robin Yount front for new stuff for the Yount collection it's been awesome for the Rollie Collection. There is a ton of stuff coming out for Rollie.

Both Marquee and Triple Threads have multiple high end relic cards for the man and I've been snagging them when I can. I got my Titanic Threads (with Rollies number) already. And I've also picked up a couple of the other Unity Relics from Triple Threads, still waiting for them though. But I got this bad boy the other day and I all I have to say is Wow!!!
I think I stole this card too. I mean it wasn't cheap, but I definitely got it for way under what it was worth.

This card will most definitely make my Top 100 over at Collector's Crack. I mean look at that awesome patch. And it's numbered to 3!! Freaking 3. I know not a 1/1 but damn 3. 1/3 to be exact.

Now I have one complaint with Topps here. Rollies in an A's uniform. Nothing wrong with that, Rollie was awesome in an A's uni. No my problem is he's in an A's Uni and the patch is obviously from a Brewers uniform. I've been seeing this a lot with both Marquee and Triple Threads were Topps puts in a different team patch from the one pictured on the card. It just seems it would be nice to have both match up. That can't be that hard can it?

I love the little blurb at the bottom, "Look for two other cards in this set to create your own Triple Threads unity triple relic card!" Oh yeah because cards numbered to 3 with awesome patch relics on them are a dime a dozen.

With Topps Marquee and Triple Thread both putting out new Rollie cards I've been on Rollie overload on the ebay. And it's getting to be a little overwhelming on the pocket book too, so I've decided to step back a ways and let the craziness of the newness of the releases subside and I'll start scooping up cards when I can. But I did manage to get this little beauty for fairly cheap.

The best part about this Titanic Threads is that it's serial number is Rollies number. The seller pointed that out, not that he got a premium on the card as I snagged this card by topping the minimum bid by 50 cents, but I figured if I was going to get one of these why not this one. I had to take the card out of its holder and touch it the swatch too. Nothing spectacular, but a nice addition to the collection.

First we have the 2003 Topps Gallery Hall of Fame Rollie's both the day and night versions. I picked both these up in the same lot.

Second we have a Rollie worth it's weight in gold.

I was really hoping that I would be able to post this pic and say that the rainbow was complete.

But sadly this year there will be no complete Rollie Rainbow for 2011 Topps Tribute. I had her in my sights put in what I thought was an over the top sure to win bid and then someone went way over the top on me in the last few seconds of the auction. It's all good though. I figure the money I saved not winning this will be put toward a jumbo box of Series 2.

Well my Rollie 1/1 cardfest continues with some great new additions.

You're saying "but CB that just looks like the regular old Gypsy Queen Rollie Fingers card"

Yes it does but when we flip it over...

Straight from the Topps Vault. It a blank back. The Topps Vault was selling these on ebay. I got this for the minimum bid, which was $9.95. I was thinking shipping was high but after seeing the way Topps packaged the card I'm very happy. The card comes in it's own case.

Which is sealed by a Topps Vault sticker, in a bag, in a padded sleeve, in a box, oh and it has a Certificate of Authenticity too.

I also snagged this bad boy for the opening bid of 9.99. I'll gladly pay 10 bucks for a printing plate to add to my Player Collection. Since I missed the first one I saw on eBay, due to high pricing snagging this guy for just under 10 bucks plus shipping seems like a steal and another ray to my Tribute Rollie Rainbow.

Gypsy Queen Mini Rollies. and others

A few new Rollies to add to the collection.
First we have Rollie Insert in a Brewers Uni in the insert set The Great Ones

And the mini version of the Great Ones.
Rollie is featured in an A's uniform for the base set, and I didn't scan the base card but here is the mini, just imagine it wider and bigger.

This one is actually the Red Gypsy Queen back parallel.

And I was also lucky enought to snag this little gem.

The Black printing plate. Wahoooooo!. I've got a couple other 1/1's coming so stay tuned.

Another Rollie Rainbow, well almost.

Hey y'all, channeling my inner Deen there,
Happy Hump Day. The weekend's in sight. Well if anyone who ganders at this blog, there are at least a few, I put together a 2009 Topps Tribute Rollie Rainbow. I actually finished the rainbow earlier this year, but that's not important. With that rainbow I was lucky enough to find and snag the Red 1/1 Refractor. A daunting task, and in 2009 it was the Gold refractor that was my bane. I finally bit the bullet and bought a buy it now one. It actually cost me more that some of my 1/1's from that rainbow, I also got two of the printing plates.

This year the cards fell pretty quickly with all the refractors but the red. I keep looking, but when your chasing a card as rare as a red 1/1 refractor there are so many factors that can keep you from finding it. Maybe whoever pulled it is a Rollie fan too and doesn't want to sell it. Maybe it was sold at an LCS, maybe it hasn't been pulled yet. Who knows? I also have missed one of the printing plates. I say I missed it, but really I was just too cheap. I bid up to 25 bucks and then figured I'd let it go. I'm cheap and for the 2009 the priciest card was the red 1/1 and I don't think I paid over 25 bucks for it.

But I digress, so here is my incomplete Rollie Rainbow. All the refractors minus the red. This year was a different from the 2009 set, in that all the numbering is on the front, in 2009 numbering was on the back. This year all the backs are identical across the different parallels of refractors, this goes for the relic and auto cards as well.

The blue #d to 199.

The green numbered to 75.

The gold numbered to 50!

And lastly the latest addition the Black #d to 10!!
I'm still on the look out for the Red and other Printing plates.

Squirt

I've got a few new Rollies coming in. Especially with Tribute and now Gypsy Queen coming out and the ole Rollster being included in both sets.

I got this in the mail the other day.

For those of you who don't know what this is it's a 1982 Squirt Bottle card. With the hole intacted Squirt actually had two series of these. One in 1981 and again in 1982. The '82's came in double and singles. I also have some Reggie Jackson single bottle toppers.

This card also reminds me of another great 82 card.

Battle-o-hair!!!

What's great about the Squirt card is it's a great premonition of things to come and if Rollie hadn't gotten hurt at the end of the 82 season these two firemen would have met in the 82 World Series.

It's also interesting that Topps used the same photo for Rollie on both the Squirt card and 81 Leading Relievers card, not so for Sutter. The Squirt photo of Sutter makes him look like a young Kenny Rodgers.

Joy of New Rollies

Wow I've really fallen behind on the old Rollie Fingers blog. And too be honest I haven't picked up any new Rollies in few months, but this years Tribute is as good as 2009's with 3 of my HOF Player Collections showing up, including Mr. Fingers.

Of course it wouldn't be Tribute without lots of base parallels and this year there's even a new green one numbered to 75!

The first Rollie I picked up was actually the last parallel I picked up for the 2009 Rainbow. Goldddddd.
Numbered to 50.

And a blue. There seems to be tons of blue Parallels on ebay for all sorts of players.

I also just picked up a base, but I'm still waiting for it and hopefully I'll snag a green tonight. I finally saw that another black, this year numbered to 10, has been posted.

I missed out on a printing plate the other day. I bid it up to 25 bucks but after that I had to stop. I really wanted it but obviously someone wanted it even more. I don't think I spent over 20 bucks on any of the 2009 1/1's I picked up. I still haven't seen the red 1/1 for this year listed and who knows maybe it never will be, but I'll be waiting because to be honest snagging a printing plate is nice, but I don't really consider it part of a rainbow.

Been a slow Rollie Month. I still waiting for some other stuff I got off of ebay. I got a nice oddball lot that should have some good stuff in it. But for now I'll highlight the latest Rollie card I got. I posted about the full set of these cards over at Miles from Miller but I figure I'd highlight the Rollie card here.

This card is from the 1983 Garnder's Bakery Brewer set. These cards were put in with various bakery items. I can remember my grandmother giving me these from loaves of bread she bought back in the 80's.

I really miss the Topps food sets from the 80's and 90's.

The Ultimate Addtion to the Ultimate Collection

I'm sure there are way more A's collectors out there that have better Rollie stuff than I do, but I'm trying to hold my own here. A couple of years ago my Rollie Fingers collection was pretty pitiful. But after my Yount collection slowed way down due to the lack of affordable cards being put out and the eventual plateau of picking up most of a retire players base cards, I decided to take my Fingers collection to the next level of Super collection. Now I've been collecting Brewers and Yount cards since I got into the hobby in 1987. The one card/comic store I use to go to had all sorts of monster boxes full cards from the 70's and early 80's so looking through them and pulling out Brewers was fairly easy and cheap. I just wish I knew were that box was. I'm sure it's sitting in a closet at my folks house 3500 miles away. But inevitably I picked up a bunch of Rollie cards. By the time I got into collecting, Rollie was long gone, by about 2 years, but that stash made him my favorite pull. Yount was by far my favorite player, he was still active up until I was in the middle of college, and luckily for me I got to see him play a few times before he retired. Man this is draggin on... do I have a point? No not really.

So here I was in the late 2000's and I decide that I'm bored trying to chase after all the super expensive Yount cards that had been coming out. The cheap ones were fairly easy to get. And started looking at Fingers cards on ebay. To my surprise there were tons of autos, jerseys, low numbered parallels, and they were all cheap. And then this year it's been slim pickings. Topps had a few nice inserts with the hat patchs and all-star game patchs but nothing to spectacular until Sterling came out. This is by far the most I've ever spent on a Rollie card, but it was still fairly cheap by certain standards. I've been watching a few of these cards on ebay and none had gone for under 40 bucks. This one started out being offed for 59.99 no buyer, then relisted for 49.99 starting bid, no buyer, then finally 39.99. I bit. And got it for the opening bid. I had been watching another Sterling book that started with an opening bid of .99 that went for 45 so I figured screw it. Let this be a lesson to all ebayers, lower opening bids usually mean a higher ending price. This was about the 6th or 7th Rollie book card #d to 10 I've seen and I knew that this might be the last one I ever see. And I got it. And yes I was following this card for weeks. But not only did I get the damn card which is super sweet take a look below I got it for the cheapest end price out of all of them. And it's #d 10/10. Which we all know means it 1/1 right? No, but I love that this is a selling technique on ebay. No assmuffin it's not a 1/1 it's a 1/10 just the last one. I might have considered it special if it were 34/34. But I digress. An awesome addition to the Fingers Supercollection.

A slow Rollie Month

It's been a slow Rollie month with the move and all. I'm still waiting for a few that I bought near new years, a sweet one at that. Anyways I picked up this Rollie Fingers/Hudson Street dual relic from the 2008 SP Legendary Cuts. I've got a few of the solo Rollie Jersey relics but this is the first dual I've been able to pick up. Nothing too fancy. No color on the swatches and it's not numbered but for a buck or so what do you expect.

Rollie Fingers State of the Collection

Slowly working my way around my blogs getting geared up for my big State of the Collection and New Years collecting resolutions over at Collector's Crack. But lets look at the State of the Rollies.

It's been a good year for my Rollie Fingers collection. I really picked it up this year, with my Yount collection slowing down due to the lack of new stuff I needed and some of the through the roof prices some of his higher end cards have been going for. Needless to say I've still been able to pick up my Rollies fairly cheaply and there have been lots floating around.

After a year, the earlier pick ups seem to fade into the night, while the newer pick ups are fresh on the brain.

My favorite most recent pick up has to be the 2009 Goodwin Champions Magician back mini #d 3/8. I had been hunting for one of these since I discovered they existed and had the good fortune to be on the winning end of bidding war. I still picked it up for less than $20 bucks which in my mind was a great deal due to the super low numbering and fact that this card was the only one up for auction that I've ever seen.

My other favorite Rollie accomplishment this year was completing my 2009 Topps Tribute Rollie Rainbow, with not only the Red 1/1 but 2 1/1 printing plates too. The third one escaped me but I'm sure it's in just a good of home as if I'd have won it. I finally found all my other Rollies since the move from Haines earlier this year and plan a doing a nice post with the rainbow. The red refractor is supersweet.

I also picked up quite a few nice autographed cards. A couple that stand out were,

this Canadian Club on card auto. The auction said these were actually autographed to be used as giveaways on booze bottles. Don't know if that's true but a nice card none the less, plus it's a booze card! Don't see nearly enough booze/baseball cross promotions anymore.

This Topps Retired refractor auto was also a nice addition.

And this beautiful UD Etchings #d to 325.

I also have a bunch of other cards that never got posted but with the man cave coming along I'll see what I can do.

One of the first additions of the year were these nice custom art cards I picked up for super cheap.

I did a post about them way back in Janurary.

Do I have any specific goals for the collection in 2011. Well I want to get my have list up and running and I'm planning on linking all the cards in the list to my photobucket sites so that there are pictures of each card. I would love to get my hands on one of the 2010 Sterling book cards he has. And there are a few other things but over all a great year for the Rollie Fingers Collector.

2004 Sweet Spot Patch

Got this in the mail the other day. Long before Topps was putting manufactured All Star Game patchs in blasters to entice you to buy retail, UD was putting them in their Sweet Spot products.

Here is my newest Rollie. A 2004 Sweet Spot Classic Patch numbered 192/230.

Smell my Fingers

It's been a good week. I've gotten quite a few new Rollie for the Awesomest Rollie Fingers Collection ever.

The first is the 2004 Fleer Inscribed Names of the Game Jersey of the Rollster. I've also seen numbered versions of this card without the jersey and I'm not sure but there might also be autos of this card.

Next is this 1983 Permagraphics Superstar. If you've never seen one of these there like a credit card and even have a signature stripe on the back and there made of plastic.

Another 2010 Tribute jersey card with a nice stripe on it. This one is #d 18/50.

And last but not least...

2004 UD Etchings Etched in Time #d to 375 Rollie auto.

This card is beautiful. Lots of foil and a great auto.

The best part about this card is that I only paid $2.75 plus shipping. A super deal in my opinion.

I'm excited there are some nice Sterling cards out there right now.

I've know that these were out there. I've been waiting to try and get one. But I haven't seen a single one listed for auction or buy it now since these cards came out last year. And then last week. The skys opened up and I saw a ray of sunshine beam down and saw this listed. Now you say oh it's just a Rollie Fingers Goodwin Champions Black mini.

No it's better it's the black foil Magician Back!! #d 3/8 one of the rarest cards in the set.

Here's the back. Pretty sweet. This is one of my Top 10 wanted Rollie cards. I had decided after complete my Rollie Rainbow for Topps Tribute last year that I wanted to try and pick up some of the rarest cards for Rollie. The best part this card only cost about 10 bucks plus shipping. A pittance compared to the relative scarcity of it. I have seen very few Magician cards come up on eBay let alone of someone I wanted.

I still have yet to post the rainbow from the 2009 Tribute set. I apologize those cards are spread out and packed away right now but soon I should have some room to spread out. I think I actually posted all the individual cards as I collected them.

Next up I'd love to get my hands on a couple of printing plate from this set but I haven't seen any of those up at all either. If anyone has a Rollie printing plate they'd like to trade for I'm open.

I picked these up a while ago but have been busy with other junk.

Here we have a Canadian Club Auto card. The auction stated that these were actually suppose to be put on bottles as an insentive to buy the bottle but never released. What ever, it was cheap and cool looking. There should be more liquor cards.

Next a Rollie 2008 Goudey Mini Green Back #d to 88.

And a 1984 Diamond Kinds Autographed card. All of these were super cheap. That's why I love collecting Rollie Fingers.

It's been awhile since I posted some Rollie Stuff. I have been accumulating a pretty good stack but have just been too lazy and busy to scan them all in. But I just bought a new scanner so I figured what a great way to test it out. This is by no means everything and I wanted to leave a few for future posts but here is the newest editions to the Most Awesomest Rollie Fingers Collection.

It's 2010 commerative 4th of July Manupatch #d to 99. I don't like the picture here it makes Rollie look like he's got a unibrow. I'm still looking for a cheap Milwaukee patch card.

Next we have my 2nd 2010 Rollie from Tribute. He doesn't have a base card this year and niether does Yount but I did finish my Rollie Rainbow from 2009 Tribute. I just have to find them all to post.

One of my nicer pick ups. This card looks fake for some reason but who would fake a Rollie card? Nice patch and numbered to 10!! Again I got this card for under 10 bucks so if it is fake who cares?

Well it's my fault I've fallen behind with this blog. I have been accumulting cheap Rollie autos, patchs and I even completed my 2009 Tribute Rainbow, but did I post any of that? Did I mention the the ole Rolster is making an apperance at the National? Nope none of it. But i'll be back in a few weeks from my next field assignment and then the gloves are off.

I recently got a few new 1 of 1's of the old Rollster. The first one is a 2008 SP Legendary Cuts Memorable Moments.

And my new Tribute is a printing plate.

This is the Yellow Printing plate.

I'm still missing the gold card for my base rainbow and I do believe I'm missing only one printing plate. Not to shabby and both of these cards were very reasonably priced.

Sorry it's been so long since I had something to post. I'm one card closer to finishing my rainbow of good ole' Rollie in 2009 Tribute. Right now the last card I need is the gold. I'm still looking.

I got this one in a lot with Sal Bando. An A's twofer if you will. I should be fully moved in to my new place at the end of the month so hopefully I'll have more to say about Rollie but you can always follow my rants over at Collector's Crack.

Well this will probably be my last Rollie blog for a while. I got the job I wanted in Anchorage and I'm in the process of packing and getting ready to move so my scanner and computer will be packed up for a while.

Here is the latest Rollies from the mailbag.

First up is a 2005 UD Reflections Red Parallel numberred to 99. Sorry about the tape at the top. I didn't feel like taking it out of it's holder.

Another 2005 it a Topps Pristine gold parallel numbered to 65.

Next up a 2004 SP Legendary Cuts All Time Autos, Autographed card numbered to 50. On card auto baby!

And lastly

A 2004 topps Retired encased uncirculated on card Auto.

Well that's it for now. I have a few other things coming but they can wait. I'm excited to be close to my favorite card shop again and plan on posting a lot more of at Collectors Crack once my main collection and I have been reunited. Until then.

Got a couple more Autos of the Rollster in the mail today off of ebay.

I love collecting Rollie cards simply there are some cool cards and it seems like I get them super cheap.

The first one is this.

It's a 1990 Swell by Impel cards hand signed. The seller didn't have a story to go with the card but a nice sig non the less. And I got it for a buck plus shipping. I didn't even have this card unsigned so a nice cheap addition.

And second is this.

It's a 2005 Ultimate Signatures Edition on card auto.

I paid 5 bucks for this one. I guess it's not numbered but a nice card and sig all together.

I suppose for every player collector there are certain cards that are holy grails. It might be that super limited rare Refractor auto numbered 1/1, but more often then not it's just the player's basic rookie card or cards. Lucky for me Rollie only has one rookie card. Not like some of my other collected players.
I've been biding my time waiting to get a Rollie Rookie. I didn't want a graded one, at least not yet, and I didn't want just some junk card to say I had it and i didn't want to pay through the nose for it. Well finally I got my prize.

Nice corners, clean both front and back, descent centering. And I paid 11 bucks for it so not to shabby.

I have to say for rookie cards this one is terrible, but not as bad as Paul Molitor's/Alan Trammell rookie.

Now I still just need that one other rookie from 1969 that I like. Mr. Jackson I'm coming for you!!!

Well I've been silent on the ole Rollie blog for a while. Waiting for stuff to arrive and just being lazy I guess. But I'm back and I've got 3 great "new" cards to add the ole collection to boot!

First we have my newest addition to the 2009 Topps Tribute Rainbow. After I got one of the printing plates I decided to try and get all the refractors too. And I snagged the red 1/1 last week!! I'll be putting it up as soon as I get it. Now all I need are the gold and regular to complete the rainbow. There is still one printing plate that hasn't been posted on ebay so that might turn up. I ended up missing the last printing plate because I had to be somewhere and didn't bid high enough.

Next I got this beauty.

2009 UD Goudey 4 in 1 black parallel numbered 9/21. Also featuring Jack Morris, Gaylord Perry, and Jim Palmer. Would you believe I snagged this for a penny? Yep it's true. Well plus shipping of course but damn a penny.

And finally I just got this in the mail today.

Yep it's a 1999 UD Retro On card auto of the Rollster hiimself. This is a level 1 unnumbered auto but still pretty sweet. This is a love/hate card. The love part is the auto is terrific, slanted the card is in mint shape. the hate. Look at the teeny tiny photo they use, is that an upper deck hat he's wearing? yep. And the photo's in black and white.

Adding to the Rollie Rainbow

Well I'm another card closer to getting the Rollie Fingers Rainbow from 2009 Topps Tribute.

Here is the Black Parallel numbered to 99.

I also picked up these two Goodwin cards.

I got these in a two for one auction. Now all I need is the Black foil and if I'm lucky I'll find a printing plate that won't break the bank.

Well I had to pick up a few Rollie Fingers cards when I was making my first purchase from Checkout My Cards. You can read all about the whole thing over at Collector's Crack.

But I thought I'd put up all the Rollie goodness here in detail.

I love oddball cards. Food issues, hardware stores, restraunts whatever.

I had to have this oddball when I first saw it on ebay and was lucky enough to be able to snag one on COMC.

It's a 1992 Ziploc card!!

Next I picked up a 2009 Goodwin mini.

I was able to pick the foil and black border minis off of ebay but figured I'd pick this one up for the cheap while window shopping at COMC.

I also got a nice 2008 Goudey Red Back mini.

And lastly I was able to get a 2005 UD Origins Old Judge.

Price for all 4? $1.75 plus shipping. Some nice additions to the collection on the cheap.

2009 Topps Tribute Printing Plate 1/1

So correct me if I'm wrong but I haven't looked at the checklist at topps.com. Mainly because the checklists there are a mess, but I haven't because I don't really plan on getting too much of Topps Tribute. I mean 50 bucks a pop for a pack is a lot. I much rather surf for aftermarket stuff. But I do believe that there should be 4 1/1's of players in the set. The red refractor 1/1 and 3 printing plates too. I unfortunatly won't be getting any Younts on that 1/1 list I fear. I've already seen 2 sell on ebay and both went for about 100 bucks not too terrible but not what i'm willing to pay.

Not when I got this lovely gem of old Rollie for 13 bucks.

Yep for a quarter of the price of a pack too.

For anyone who hasn't gotten to get close to one of these, there pretty cool. Actually metal, aluminium I do believe. This is my second printing plate so far. I also got a Brad Nelson Rookie Printing Plate from last years topps set. CB.

1976 Wiffle Ball Disc

Hot outta the mail box is this nice jem I picked up for a buck.

It's the 1976 MSA Wiffle Ball Disc. Smaller than other contemporary MSA discs these disc were only 2 3/8" in diameter. There are 80 subjects that were inserted into Wiffle Ball products. Rollies card number is 22 denoted in the checklist alphabeticly.

This set also includes stars like Nolan Ryan, Reggie Jackson, George Brett, and others.

Just got this in the mail the other day. Would you believe for a dime!!!! Well and shipping so about 3 bucks damn a mini foil for a dime. Forgive the scratchs and other blemishes, and foils don't scan well.

AOJ 1/1 Art Cards Just Gottem'

So I'm purusing ebay one day. I seem to do this a lot and was checking out some Rollie Fingers stuff. It's amazing what you can find and for how cheap. So anyways I stumble across these AOJ 1/1 Sports Art Cards. AOJ stands for Art of Jon. Anyways Jon's official ebay store is here nojfotra. He's got lots of other cards listed there too and he does commissions.

Just look at all the Mustachy goodness.

I was really curious about these cards so I went to the AOJ website. Supposedly Jonathan Gordon, who is the artist here, has been featured in Beckett and other publications. Never heard of him, maybe someone out there has, anywho I couldn't pull the trigger at the buy it now price of 14.99 a piece. Couldn't do it. But they went unsold. mmmm. Next week they are being live auctioned for a starting price of .99 cents. Sweet I ended up getting both for under 6 bucks plus 2 bucks shipping. Perfect reward/risk price. But I have to say they are really nice. The paper is thin almost looks like bristol board not card stock but I took the card out of the holder and sleeve and got a really close look at it and it's all original non reproduced so that's sweet.

Ah 1981 what a good year for Rollie Fingers. He became a Brewer that year. Pitched 78 innings in 47 games and had a ERA of just 1.04, and had 61 strike outs.

Something old and something new. For the New Year

Ah going through a box I found in the closet I came across a couple of packs of Brewers Police Issue Team Packs I had picked up somewhere. I remember in Wisconsin growing up the Police would hand these out at the 4th of July Parade. And here I found a good one.

It's a 1984. The bummer about the cards from this era is they are oversized so you need to find special holders for them the Ultrapro and Card Saver II's work pretty well. Later issues are regular sized.

And here is the something newish for New Years.

I got this the other day.

I got this for a nice 10 dollar bill. The thing I love about collecting the fringe stars. I know there are other Rollie Fingers collectors out there I've bid against them. Or at least A's or Brewers fans but look at this card this shouldn't be a 10 dollar card but alas it is. Looking it up that's about what this card goes for. It's not numbered so I guess that takes some of the value down but I love the Sweet Spot Signatures. With the actually stiching and crystal clear sig.

The 1982's and a 83 for Good Measure

Yesterday was a great card day. I got a ton of stuff in the mail. I got a bunch of 2008 Allen and Ginter picks to help finish my set and I also got a nice lot of Rollie cards. I also got a lot of 1983 Donruss Action All-Stars with Robin Yount on top. I only opened one pack because this card was on the back.

Rollie looks like he's about to sing.

But here is a collection of his 1982 cards.

Donruss first.

Nice card. I really like the early 80's Donruss. Simple and clean.

Here is the Fleer.

Not a huge fan of this set. A lot of the pictures are blurry and not composed well.

The 81 Fleer is a much better set.

And lastly all three of Rollies 1982 Topps cards.

This last card almost deserves a post of it's own. I think I would call it Mustach vs. Beard. Rollie Wins but damn look at Sutters soup catcher. Looks more like Grizzly Adams than a St Louisr reliever.

Another reason why I like the 82's is that this is the year that Rollie help take the Brewers to their one and only World Series Appearance.

You never know what you might find.

Was digging through a box of cards today and posted a bunch of finds at Collector's Crack.

But this one goes up here all by itself. I was sorting out my Brewers from the box to there own shoebox of glory when I came upon this card to go in it's own shoebox. Ever the player collector I guess.

Yeah, It's a 1975 Hostess Card!! Not incredibly well cut but nice and clean.

And did you know that Rollie's middle name is Glen?

Score one for the shoebox.

Mustach Envy

Hello All,
Well to start the almost new year off right I've decided to expound my blogging to include at least 2 if not 3 new player card blogs. And of course if your reading this you know from the title that this one if about Rollie Fingers.

I mean just look at that 'stash. I have stash envy all over. So this isn't just about the 4 years he pitched with the Brewers. Nope this is dedicated to the man, his whole career and his cards. So here are a few I just pulled out so liven up the blog the first is a 2001 Brewers Walk of Fame Norstan card. I think these were given out at the stadium, don't really know.

The second card is a classic 1984 Gardners Bakeries Topps Card. Here's Rollie with all his mustachy goodness in a great pose in a brewers uniform.

Series II no less.
